Default Thank you all very much but... (somewhat long? probably should be a blog post, huh?)

I have one gripe.

Now before I get there, let me just say by way of introduction that before Nightfall, WoW was my only other experience with MMORPGs. Trust me, I'm not going to take the time to compare the two. Suffice it to say, I'm extremely satisfied with my NF experience thus far.

And even though I've been playing NF now for a few months, I feel as if it's only in the recent weeks I'm beginning to better grasp the mechanics of the game and how the different skills interact (mind you, I never had the luxury of playing Magic or anything of the sort).

This deeper understanding has to do with the voracious reading I've done at various forums, particularily this one. And while I appreciate the immense amounts of time and energy people have taken to share this or that build, I do find one thing rather consistent (here's the "gripe"):

Almost without exception, whenever I read about a wonderful build that someone has discovered for this or that purpose, I get excited... only to discover that the build incorporates skills from either Prophecy or Factions. Granted, most of you are probably die-hard, hardcore early adopters for everything that's GW so it's probably common assumption that everyone is like you. However, the fact is there are people out there like me, who, for whatever reasons cannot afford the luxury of having access to all three chapters.

Granted, the dervish profession seems to be one that is pretty much self-contained; thus, most viable builds do not frequently make use of other professions. To quote Lordhelmos, "As a dervish you will [often] find yourself with a bar filled with nothing but blue portraits of some cloaked guy holding a scythe in different poses." Still, builds like the "Mystic Sandstorm Spiker" intrigue me. Unfortunately for me, I cannot experience it without dipping into my savings.

So, if you're still reading this (thank you!), here's a friendly suggestion: Next time you feel compelled to share with us your uber-build that happens to utilize Prophecy or Faction skills, please take a itsy-bitsy moment of your time and at least mention that some of the skills you're using are not available to a NF-only player.

Or things could just continue the way they have been and I'll just go and shut up! I only hope that you would be sympathetic to how often I get very excited about a certain build I read about - only to discover I cannot do it. It's very disheartening...

I believe there are some dervish builds on guildwiki that present alternative skills to those from other chapters. I beleive the 130hp d/mo build is adjustible to incorperate nightfall only skills. There's bound to be some out there, just have a look

Thanks for the suggestion; yes, it's true. There are builds out there; however, it's not the derth of builds I'm griping about... it's the "apparent lack of sympathy" to us, NF-only folks like me... hehe

since guildwars , like WOW has it's running cost, i think it's anet's way of keeping the income coming in (i heard somewhere that new guildwars chapters will be released every 6 months.. probably bull but makes sense if true). you do have a point if people pick up the game now they need to buy 3 games in effect to be able to make use of all professions and skills and combination of all. I'm sure Anet are aware of this ..in fact they let you cap SOME core profession skills on nightfall but some only cappable in the prophecies campaign. Example: elemental attunement cappable in all chapters but spiteful spirit only in prophecies..

i guess they're saying if u want it that badly, buy the other chapter
